Returns and Exchanges HEADING_TITLE

At Category One Cycles we understand that ordering a bicycle and bike gear can be a bit of a leap of faith. We want to set your mid at ease and make your shopping experience as easy as possible. That extends to our Return/Exchange process. Category One Cycles is the only online bike retailer with the “Category One No Hassle Bicycle Return Policy”. If you find that you need to return or exchange merchandise purchased through Category One Cycles, please follow the guidelines and instructions listed below and your return/exchange will be processed in a timely manner.

30 Day New and Unused Merchandise Returns

  • Due to health concerns, Category One Cycles is unable to accept any returns of nutrition, supplements or consumable food products.
  • All items must be returned in new and unused condition with all parts, original tags, and packaging materials within 30 days of purchase.
  • Used items will not be accepted by Category One Cycles and will be shipped back to you AT YOUR EXPENSE.
  • Clothing items must be unworn and have all hang tags attached.
  • DVDs, VHS tapes, CDs, and Software that are unopened and still in their original plastic wrap can be returned for a full refund within 30 days of purchase. Defective or damaged items may be exchanged for the same title only.
  • Wheels and power meters must not be ridden.
  • Tires, tubular or clincher, must not be mounted or glued.
  • All Special Order sales are final and will not be accepted for return or exchange unless defective or damaged. A Special Order is an item that Category One Cycles does not actively stock or sell and specially orders from a manufacturer or distributor for a customer.
  • Category One Cycles will only accept returns or exchanges with valid return authorization numbers clearly marked on the outside of packages. Items not returned with valid numbers on the packaging will not be accepted by Category One Cycles and will be shipped back to you AT YOUR EXPENSE.
  • The RMA can be found on the upper right hand corner of the packing slip included with your order. It is only valid for 30 days from the day of purchase.
  • Category One Cycles.com will refund the actual ground shipping costs to return damaged merchandise or to return merchandise due to a mis-shipment.
  • The customer is responsible for all return shipping charges unless otherwise noted.
  • Upon receipt of your return, Category One Cycles will notify you of the receipt via email and will work to process the return or exchange as quickly as possible. All credits will be placed on the credit card used for the original purchase. Please allow 1 - 2 billing cycles for the credit adjustment to appear on your statement.

The Category One Cycles “No Hassle” Bicycle Return Policy

Framesets and Complete Bikes

It may seem a little crazy to buy a bike online, but the benefits far outweigh any risks. This is especially so with Category One Cycles’ “No Hassle” Bicycle Return policy! At Category One Cycles, we want your bike to fit you perfectly. We are proud of the bikes we build; if you are not satisfied, neither are we. After you receive your bike from Category One Cycles, ride it for 3 days, if you are not completely satisfied, you can exchange your bike or receive store credit without incurring a restocking fee*.

You may ask how we can make this offer; Category One Cycles is confident that based on the fit measurements that you provide with your order, we can assemble a bike that fits you!

In the event you are not satisfied with your bike, call us! We will be glad to assist you and make every effort to correct any issues you are facing. If we are unable to correct your situation to your satisfaction, we will offer you full store credit minus any shipping charges. If your bicycle is going to be returned to us, we will issue you a return authorization number (Authorization for Bike Return (ABR)). ABR must be issued on or by the 4th calendar day after receipt of the bicycle or frameset to qualify under the “3 day – No Hassle Return” policy.

*Bike must be returned in “showroom condition”, as deemed by Category One Cycles. Exchange is limited to one time only. Any parts or components returned in unsatisfactory condition will be charged to you at full replacement cost, after market seat posts that are cut or scratched beyond a reasonable degree will be charged to you at full replacement cost. Special order bikes and frameset sales are final. Category One Cycles considers a special order to be a bike custom ordered from a manufacturer for you. This includes, but is not limited to, bikes or frames ordered with custom sized tubing and/or custom paint or frames with tubes which must be cut to size.

Defective or damaged - If the bike or frameset arrives to you defective or damaged, you can return it for replacement, store credit or refund with no penalty. We will refund the actual ground shipping costs of your return in such a situation.

Returning a Bicycle (Complete Bike or Frameset) outside of the “No Hassle” 3 day period

Outside the initial 3 days, Category One Cycles accepts returns on framesets and complete bikes within 30 days of the original shipping date under the following conditions:

  • Incorrect Size - If you determine that you chose the incorrect size bike or frameset, and it is beyond the initial 3 day period, you can return it for a properly-sized replacement within 30 days of the original shipping date. The bike or frameset must be in new condition and must not have been ridden outside. You will be responsible for a restocking fee of 10% of the retail price of the bike or frameset, which covers the administration, labor, and depreciation costs associated with a returned bike or frameset. You will also be responsible for all shipping costs and proper insurance.

    We will do everything within reason to help you fine tune the fit of your new bike within this 30 day period, including trading out stems, handlebars, and seatposts. Please note that if we send out replacement items, your credit card will be billed for such items and a full credit will be issued once we receive the original parts back from you.
  • Returns for exchange or store credit - If you are otherwise unsatisfied with your frameset or bike purchase, you can return it within 30 days of the original shipping date for an exchange or a store credit. The bike or frameset must be in new condition and must not have been ridden outside. You will be responsible for a restocking fee of 20% of the retail price of the bike or frameset, which covers the administration, labor, and depreciation costs associated with a returned bike or frameset. You will also be responsible for all shipping costs and proper insurance.
  • Returns for refund - If you choose to return non-defective merchandise to us within this 30-day window for a refund, you will be responsible for a restocking fee of 20% of your purchase price. The bike or frameset must be in new condition and must not have been ridden outside. You will also be responsible for all shipping costs and proper insurance.
  • The steer tubes on forks must not be cut. Cut forks will be charged full replacement cost.
  • Stock seat posts may be cut for fit purposes. After market seat posts that are cut or scratched beyond a reasonable degree will be charged full replacement cost.
  • Special order bikes and framesets are final. As stated under the No Hassle return policy, Category One Cycles considers a special order to be a bike custom ordered from a manufacturer for you. This includes, but is not limited to, bikes or frames ordered with custom sized tubing and/or custom paint. If a customer wishes to cancel a special order bike before it has shipped from the manufacturer, there will be a $200 cancellation fee.
  • An Authorization for Bike Return (ABR) number is required for all frameset and bike returns/exchanges and can be obtained by calling: 1.800.979.CAT1(2281). Category One Cycles will only accept returns or exchanges with valid ABR numbers clearly marked on the outside of packages. Items not returned with valid numbers on the packaging or not within the 30 day return period will not be accepted by Category One Cycles and will be shipped back to you AT YOUR EXPENSE.

Please use the following instructions for making any returns or exchanges to Category One Cycles:

  1. Fill out the RETURN/EXCHANGE FORM located on your packing slip with the quantity returned and the reason code. If you wish to make an exchange, please also fill out the EXCHANGE FORM on the back of the RETURN/EXCHANGE FORM.
  2. Pack items along with all of their original packaging and tags in a sturdy box and seal securely.
  3. Tape the pre-addressed RMA label on the outside of the box. See above for special requirements on Bike returns.
  4. For your protection, return the merchandise via tracking delivery services. These include UPS, FedEx, and some US Postal services. Insure items accordingly. Category One Cycles does not assume any liability on lost or mishandled returns.
